Durham College sweeps Seneca in their home opener

Durham defeated Seneca  3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-21)

In front of a loud crowd at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre, the Durham College women’s volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over the Seneca Sting in their 2009-10 home opener. Set scores were 25-20, 25-23, 25-21.

Although the Lords picked up the straight sets victory, it was a very competitive match with both teams grinding out every point.

The Lords entire lineup looked impressive from top to bottom as both veterans and rookies contributed in the opening night win. Keri Fotherby had a standout game for Durham playing stellar defence while making a number of key blocks and kills.

The Lords will be off next week before taking on the Niagara Knights in an exhibition game on Tuesday, October 27 in Welland, Ont. Durham’s next home action will be on Thursday, October 29 against Trent University.
